I needed a diversion from grading final projects so I thought i would continue to write a little more about each Bond film ...
You Only Live Twice Great opening scene … the rest is explained in an above post but I feel it has a little of everything successful found in each and every film. I also like the subplot of marrying a Japanese woman and living on the island … a personalized helicopter –come on, this is the quintessential Bond film! On Her Majesty's Secret Service Ultimately forgettable … I explained my thoughts in the pervious post Diamonds Are Forever Jill Saint John - oh my! Two female body guards, Bambi and ? Guarding Gomer Pyl ..er Howard Hughes! Ultimately campy and with quite possibly the two strangest super henchmen Pen and Teller have made a career out of mimicking. I love the muscle car chase through the Vegas strip. Live and Let Die Moore’s first and best film. I love the voodoo story line and consider Yaphet Kotto the most convincing and best Bond villain of any of the Bond films. Skipping atop croc heads! And did I mention Jane Seymore; oh and did I mention Jane Seymore. The boat race is by far the greatest chase in any bond film –pure genius with a real Smokey and the Bandit feel to it … and the New Orleans funeral –brilliant, simply brilliant. The Man with The Golden Gun Pure unadulterated fun; a legit flying car; Scaramanga –great villain name; Maud Adams first appearance in a Bond film – leaving her dead at the Sumo match was very surreal; a good ’ol fashioned shootout western style, but in a carnival, and Tatoo hung in a basket on a Junk –brilliant! |
