This is what we call in Chicago, "voting present."

is the worst thing that can happen to EVERYONE. Unemployment will go up. People will loose a good portion of their retirement savings.

It's not a pleasant choice, but I believe the bailout, with a small influx of funds ($200-$300B) will buy some time until they can come up with a more definitive public/private solution. Doing nothing is not a choice. It's a cop out.

It's either a win/win for both parties, or it will be a lose/lose. Pelosi is too friggin stupid to figure that out.........along with her sidekick Reid.

When this whole thing came down, first thing this POS blames it all on the Republicans when everyone with half a brain knew it was caused by folks in both parties. And then she pulls this BS again.

Hey, Nancy, do something right for the country for once and forget about who get's blamed or credit.

Someone ought to b-slap her!

What is Pelosi's excuse? Maybe she can call Republicans unpatriotic again?

Cali reminds me of the football fan, whose team loses on the last play of the game, a hail-Mary, no time on the clock.

As a collective moan goes out and a stupendous silence settles in, Cali jumps from his seat and screams "WAIT A SECOND, IT'S NOT OVER YET. THEY BROKE THE RULES!"

The other fans listen for a moment, trying to process what he is saying, and in about a second, they realize that for the sane portion of the world, the game is over, but for the crazies, it is never over. And Cali is of the crazies.

One of the classics of his ilk, right here.

will congress vote for something that clearly their constituents oppose?

That's even riskier.

begin being partisan at this point? But then again a huge number of Dems opposed it as well. Can't blame it all on the republicans. She's a botox-infected idiot.

Here's the 5-minute speech. Wow, minutes away from (allegedly) clinching the deal that she's been begging the Republicans to get on board for, and she kicks them in the teeth. And to boot, she can't even round up her own caucus.

Are there two more feckless and ineffective leaders in America today than Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid? Yes, I'm including George Bush.

Unfair bet. The Dems control both houses of congress so this should be a slam dunk. I don't understand the hold up. Maybe Obama should weigh in and lead his party.

Oh, I know, his approach is "call me if you need me." If they don't need him now, when will they need him? Is this a first glimpse into Obama's governing style?

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

In other news, McCain and Obama announce that they will run together as "joint-Presidents".
