I might be wrong, but I don't think personal attacks push anyone out the door that isn't already on the door step hoping someone will push.

It is consistent with my feelings that a football sex scandal at BYU isn't going to hurt our chances with thousands of potential converts.

You can "find" them that way, if you choose. But it's quite possible you are, deliberately or accidentally, missing what the person is actually trying to say.

Give a shot trying to understand what a person means, rather than putting your own spin on his words and then imputing that meaning to him.

I'm just trying to hijack the thread into a discussion of your avatars. You probably have someone else help you decorate your home and style your coiffer. This doesn't mean you don't have great taste. Having the right people around you definitely qualified.

I am a little disappointed that you have switched from a Redskin to a Cowboy, and yet as I look at your avatar.....what was I saying?

I've had Tex pegged as LDS stasi for a long time. He's on the payroll. I'm not convinced he's a machine though that's a worthy theory. He can't give his details because they may have to take him out someday or he may have to take a poison pill.

The key is in the smile. Both of these gals have great smiles.

the only question is in the sincerity of the smiles. They both look fake to me.

Why are you taking offense to this? I haven't specifically mentioned anyone by name. I am talking in general about the situation described in my post. And if you think those words in that context aren't designed to push someone out the door, we will just have to disagree. What other conclusion could be drawn?

It seems to me there are the following possible responses to a question like the one I posed:

1. Hear question, ignore it.
2. Hear question, ask why person is a member, decide person shouldn't be a member.
3. Hear question, ask why person is a member, decide person doesn't know and should think about it.
4. Hear question, ask why person is a member, decide there are good reasons and stay.

It seems that the intent of the questioner isn't to get the person to ignore the question, so that leaves 3 possible responses the questioner hopes for, two of which aren't conducive to the person staying in the church. So you have to agree that such a question, particularly when phrased in an angry manner, doesn't seem designed to be all that helpful to the recipient of the question.
