And what did she do with Petula Clark??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GVE7...elated&search= (I have a feeling I'm not going to win this one on a board with a bunch of guys.) It's Emma Bunton -- wasn't she a Spice Girl? Dirty Spice or Nasty Spice or Self-pleasuring Spice maybe?

Trashy Spice?
And why do I get the feeling she's not singing about a geographic location? She's so subtle, though, it's hard to tell... |

I don't like either version of the song. Blech!

I'm surprised no one mentioned Hotel California. When I started the thread I had guessed that was the song I'd see listed most often.
Oh, that and Chatahoochie. |

Hotel calif. is a good one, but the two best eagles songs about a place are Desperado, about the vanishing west (sort of; work with me here) and The Last Resort, which is literally about the condominiumization (is that a word?) of Maui.
I am also surprised no one has mentioned New York, New York. Is there any song that so clearly and immediately evokes a city as "Start spreadin' the news ..."? (I am browsing on my b-berry in the airport so pardon me if someone did mention it and I missed it)

Oh yes, and given that I live oin the Bay Area (there is only one that counts) I must mention I left my heart in san francisco, which is right behind NY,NY on the evocative scale.
