Well that is simple to explain. No nursery, scouting, or YM/YW programs in a singles ward.

I don't think I agree with that. Singles wards were created because YSA's weren't going to their family wards. Singles wards are all about the social aspect, specifically getting singles marrieds.

Dudes are always going to Church because of chicks. When you're single, it's to meet chicks, when you're married, it's cause your chick is making you go.

I disagree. Singles wards also provide microcosms of leadership opportunities that they likely would get no where else. A 23-year-old EQ president? RS president? Executive Secretary? Not likely in a family ward. But they are found all throughout the church singles program.

When was the last time you were in a singles ward? On this topic I don't give much credibility to the folks who were in one 10 years ago for 6 months after getting home from the mission, then got married and left. They really have no clue what a singles ward is like. Singles wards were created to give YSAs easier opportunities to get married, but if one of the reasons was to get more of them to go to church it's been an experiment that has failed miserably. Outside of Utah YSAs who don't have interest in the church don't need a singles ward to find chicks. What usually happens with the marginally active ones is the home ward tends to abdicate its responsibility for the singles to the singles ward and doesn't keep track of them. So then they show up at the singles ward occasionally but never transfer their records and no one there knows who they are and they fall through the cracks.

Apparently Venkman wouldn't know about that because he's clearly spent very little time in a singles ward or he never got his records transferred into one so as to avoid callings. Yes, there are some who attend singles wards who don't care about anything but the social, but they are the minority, in my experience. Unfortunately the bishop and the core members of the ward rarely find out who these people are anyway because they don't stay in one place for long or don't stay active. In a lot of ways the singles ward concept is probably bad for the types that Venkman describes because the home ward usually forgets about them as soon as they turn 18 and they don't get involved enough in the singles ward for the leadership there to ever find out who they are.

Yes. The D11 ward (Richardson Stake) is great. The D12 in the Dallas East stake, not so great.

I'm glad I never visited a singles' ward. If ever single again, I'd go inactive, find a great nonmember gal and maybe we could activate her.
