I guess one of the consequences will be that if your teacher gets married, you will have the option to attend the wedding, only if your parents give their permission.

I never thought about it that way. That sounds really dangerous.

Hey Norcal, I have a question for you on this.

Since the teacher is a lesbian, should she be allowed to teach kids of this age? I'm not asserting anything here, I'm just trying to see where you are coming from.

I wouldn't expect you to understand something beyond 2 + 2 = 4, so it's ok.

Are you going to wear your "no on prop 8" button to Church? Come on tough guy, do it.

For example:

"The top issue that has emerged in the Proposition 8 campaign is whether same-sex marriage will be taught in California public schools if the initiative is not enacted. Opponents of Proposition 8 are spending millions of dollars on television commercials telling voters that the Yes on 8 campaign’s claim that gay marriage will be taught in public schools is a lie. Yet a review of public records filed with the First District Court of Appeal in Boston shows these same organizations who claim our statement is a lie fought to make it true in Massachusetts. Specifically, they fought to ensure that gay marriage be taught in Massachusetts public schools, even over the objection of parents who sought an “opt out” for their children. Gay marriage was legalized by Massachusetts courts in 2003."

Do any of you honestly believe this is ONLY about gay marriage?

Please avoid the Slippery Slope arguments that are meant to instill fear in the hearts of redneck Americans everywhere. They do no good and they make those who use them seem like uneducated bigots from the backwoods of America. As they're talking someone might as well be strumming a banjo and blowing into one of the moonshine jugs to make the situation as serious as possible. And don't forget to have your shotgun sitting on your lap just in case one of them dirty 'Mos comes to hear ya talk.

Peace

Sure buddy. There's no slippery slope at all, right? B.S.

The Yes on 8 campaign has been airing television and radio commercials factually presenting what happened in Massachusetts where second graders were taught in class about gay marriage using the book, “King and King.” This book is about a prince who married another prince, and includes an illustrated scene of the two men kissing. In response, the No on 8 campaign has purchased at least $1.25 million in television time to run an ad that says, “They’re using lies to persuade you…[Prop. 8] will not affect teaching in schools. Another lie.” (Source: No on Prop. 8 Ad available at www.noonprop8.com)

Yeah, that's a great use of school funds, right?

Read the article man. It was the PARENTS that came up with the idea not the teacher or the school.

Who's idea it was is irrelevant. The school's interim director had to approve it, man. I guess some of you need everything spelled out for you.

First of all, I would argue it's inappropriate for a class to take a "field trip" to see ANY wedding, gay, straight, polygamist, whatever.

Secondly, if not for gay marriages being allowed, this "field trip" would never occurred, and SIX year old kids would not have been exposed to this issue.
