Birth of a Nation is a classic in that it was techonologically ground breaking, although the content is odius. I was shown this in a couple of college courses for different purposes.

I watched that the other day... Then, without getting off the couch, watched the whole thing again with the commentary by some expert in the culture, film history, and everything else geeky I could have ever wanted to know.
