Of course they aren't saying much. Blagojovich is nuclear waste right now. Who wants any association whatsoever with the guy? Certainly not the president elect. This is the last thing in the world you want hovering over your head as you try to get your presidency rolling.

Blago clearly was upset with Obama for not playing ball. That indicates two things: 1) Obama's team communicated with Blago (whether or not Obama knew they communicated is another question entirely; and 2) Obama didn't play ball with Blago (which is exactly what we would hope and want).

According to ABC News, Emanuel may have even been responsible for alerting the FBI to Blago in the first place, which would also explain their reticence to explain their communications much right now.

There is nothing to indicate Obama did anything wrong. To the contrary, Blago's own statements appear to exonerate Obama. It is Jesse Jackson Jr. who should be worried right now.

We do know this: Obama is being characterized as "parsing his words" (I heard this on NPR) describing his relationship with the governor.

We are not stupid. We know what it means a politician parses his words.
