McCain is no hero. McCain happened to get shot down and happened become a POW who got special treatment just because his dad was an admiral. He was at the bottom of his class at the naval academy, and he abandoned his family when he got home. And he has a reputation for being an total jerk when he's not on camera. I can't understand why anyone would vote for this man.

And if you set everything else aside, just look who he chose for a running mate. What 72 year old president with melanoma would want this piece of work as his replacement. Melanoma is famous for coming back even when you think you got it all. The man could be dead in a year, and this is who he wants leading the country:

What is it about so many liberals that they don't appreciate what men like McCain has done for them? These folks in the military risk their lives so you can be assholes in the way you treat them.

Mudphud, you're my favorite Palin-basher, but I've gotta call you out on this one.

Granted, as far as his career goes, in a twisted sense getting shot down and captured was the best thing that could have happened to him. And granted, he seems like a [word I'm not going to use here] in his personal life,

But still:

1. All of our men/women in uniform are heroes.
and
2. You have to at least concede it was noble of him to turn down the offer to come home ahead of his peers.

Degrading what he did in the military or mocking his service and belittling his years as a POW is off limits.

Say what you will about his political policies, but leave his years of service alone. Guys like him put their lives on the line in order for you to have the right to degrade his service, but it makes you look like a cretinous jackass to do so.
