Delaware
We spent an elongated weekend at the beaches in Delaware (Bethany Beach primarily); it was my first time to Joe Biden's territory, and we had a great time. The beaches were beautiful (the waves were bit large for my liking, but Hanna had just come through, so maybe that was part of it). More than anything, I enjoyed the drive through Delaware to get to the beaches: tidy little farming towns with corner barbecues put on by local Kiwanis clubs, lots of pretty little churches, fruit/vegetable stand literally every mile or so, very few chain restaurants, and the the extent a Lowe's has crept into the landscape, it is still surrounded by farms; quite a strange image to see a big-box store without strip malls, traffic lights, and concrete surrounding it.
I imagine Delaware took one look at its northern neighbor and said, "there's no way in hell we're going to let ourselves become like New Jersey."
