Sorry, it has not been doctored. It is straight from the proverbial horses mouth.

Has no place here? So much for an open forum.

Context? Suggest a context where it doesn't express a true insight.

The bigger question is whether or not details of Patriarchal Blessings, particularly provided for purposes of amusement, is appropriate for an open forum or not?

It's not a question of censorship, it's one of self-censorship.

Regardless, whoever shared this with malapert did both of them a disservice.

My question, do you think the partriarch meant "western USA" or "Western civilization"?

Seems like most of you assume the former. Why not the latter?

Hey, I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not a moderator. Throw out anything you like. I just found it in poor taste and unadvisable and wanted to express that. I find such blessings sacred and not for public mocking. This is just one of things at which I draw the line and wanted to express my thoughts. I didn't mean to offend.

When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

I can picture a person who has had some unfortunate experiences with members of the church, and naively hopes to move out to Utah where the "true saints" are, for happy days where all is well.

Utah members have the same issues that members everywhere else have, except that the sheer numbers of members there make you more keenly aware of their quirks and shortcomings.

I've lived in enough Utah wards and very active non-Utah wards that I don't think there really is any appreciable difference. The biggest difference is that outside of Utah, you generally don't rub elbows with your ward members or other LDS members all that much during the week and in Utah you're around them all the time, so those idiosyncracies are just more noticeable.

I think this is extremely accurate.

Let's say 1 out of 10 LDS shop on Sunday. That means the Walmart in Orem is packed. Someone notices and says Utah Mormons are such hypocrities. When the Kalamazoo Michigan Walmart is packed on Sunday, you don't say Mormons are hypocrites I bet at least a few of those shoppers are LDS.
