ugh. Serendipity was an awful movie! High Fidelity is much better. I might stretch the definition of a romantic comedy to include High Fidelity--, but it was funny, clever, and romantic (in a non-cheesy way) at the end. There's a lot of truth about men and fear of committment in that movie!
I also enjoyed About a Boy and Emma. That's all I can think of. |

the problem with romantic comedies is they all blend into one Meg Ryan film. I have trouble remembering the titles of any, save Sleepless in Seattle, and something about Harry and she has a fake orgasm in a coffee shop.
I have seen hundreds but I can't tell you a name. The only smart one I saw was a British film during the 19th century, something about A Bride or Gentleman or something. Very smart dialogue involving some intrigue with the British government, her husband and somebody who could help her husband. If an Englishman went up a Hill and came Down a Mountain counts, then I like that one. Aye, there's the rub, there's nothing memorable 'bout them romantic comedies, except if you got lucky afterwareds.

I quite enjoyed An Ideal Husband ... should've included it. About a Boy was ok, as was Love actually.

"I don't know how people fit work into their schedules." "Internet Research." "Love Actually" wasn't bad either, especially the porn star sit-ins.

IMO about a boy is a classic. I am not sure it was really a chick flick there. C'mon didn't you all laugh when he got hit in the head with an apple at the end. That was hilarious.
Here are two others that you are forgetting Jerry Macguire as it is a romantic comedy (advertised as such) Fever Pitch.. I actually liked this one despite what Bill Simmons says
