Yeah, I heard it. He repeated it about one hundred times. I haven't adopted that yet.

When I was a believer, fasting was hard. Now it is downright brutal. A couple of weeks ago my family had a special fast that my wife took part in, so I didn't eat to support her. We were together the whole 24 hours, so I couldn't sneak food like I did when I was a kid.

I cheat sometimes. But my darn wife has an exceptional sense of smell. She can sniff the chocolate on my breath a mile away.

We do the two meal route.

On Saturday evenings I usually end up eating out, therefore having a good amount of food, insomuch that I'm not hungry on Sunday until dinnertime, so I end up not eating for about 24 hours.

But when it is Fast Sunday, just knowing that I'm not supposed to eat for 24 hours...that knowledge makes me hungry.

I love it. I'm going to start eating 6 smaller meals a day. I figure I can break my fast by 10AM this way.

I often wonder how many folks participate in the fast just for the sake of fasting or because of tradition.

That's me. I fast every month, but I rarely fast with a purpose. I have a hard time finding something really meaningful to fast about except during times of major events.

If I don't have anything particular, I like to fast in gratitude for my abundant blessings and for opportunities to serve others without really extending myself.

You probably are going about it in a better manner than I. Of course, I also like to use the excuse that an ulcer I developed in school (20 years ago or so) acts up and it helps to keep food in my stomach. I just don't mention that I like to eat a big BLT on wheat with a Coke.

Thanks, I'd laugh at myself but unfortunately it's the pathetic truth.
