I'm saying I can't tell much of a difference by looking at the websites.

I don't know much about them but that's one interesting-looking building they built:

It's just a big chapel on the inside. I found it interesting that they rent it out to other organizations.

On my tour the tourguide began to tell me that at some place the shadows come in like a cross and people often stop and pray at the shadow made cross, which is just in the aisle.

Was the one point I really began to conclude that they and we are now distant enough relatives that I can notice the man made jubilees on their womenfolk without feeling like I was incestuous.

While I don't think there is any doubt that the LDS Church tries to look "non-threatening" in its public faces, there is still quite a bit of difference between the CoC and the LDS site. Actually, it would probably be better to compare to mormon.org, as that is designed for non-members.
  • On the front page of the CoC site, there is nothing that identifies the church as anything other than a traditional Christian church other than a link to a Doctrine and Convenants section (a section, btw that provides doctinal groundwork for separation from Mormon history). The front page of mormon.org is rather sparse, but does have a significant "Truth Restored" on it.
  • If you go into "Beliefs" in the CoC site, there is nothing about the restoration, and a somewhat awkward description of the BoM: "With other Christians, we affirm the Bible as scripture for the church. In our tradition, the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants are additional scriptural witnesses of God’s love and Christ’s ministry". Mormon.org lays the restoration and the BoM out there fairly plainly in its "Basic Beliefs".

There is more along these lines. I am admittedly coming at it from an LDS bias, but to me, it appears that the LDS church is trying to emphasize similarities to other Christians to make them more comfortable with the history, while the CoC is trying to be like other Christians because they are uncomfortable with their history.

the thing I am impressed with is the "My tithing plan" ... They actually get to say where there tithing money goes to. Also lots of ways for people to give... IRA and Financial Planning... the LDS church is way behind on this one.

Their ice cream cone temple will go nicely with the birthday cake inspired Provo Temple.
