Commissioner Bowlsby on Mike and Mike this morning said geography isn't that big of a deal anymore like it may have been 25 years ago. He said electronic footprint matters now. Very good signs for BYU. The idea of bringing in a team that doesn't have most of its fanbase concentrated in one market is a plus for them. He could have said something totally different if the strengths BYU brings to the table aren't important to them. Also encouraging is the statement Holmoe tweeted out immediately after the B12 announcement (within minutes) saying BYU is very interested. That was cued up ready to go. They clearly knew what was being discussed in the meetings and were sitting ready to make a positive statement on it. However you interpret the history of BYU and the Big 12, what is happening today looks completely different.

"If Big 12 presidents were to vote on the rest of a list right now, I'd be willing to bet it'd be BYU, then Cincinnati, and then some mix of Houston, Memphis, and UConn. But if your list doesn't start with BYU, crumple it up and try harder."

imagine if they add 4 and BYU isn't one of them.
I hope BYU is added in football AND basketball. |

Imagine if the Big 12 expanded with 2 to 4 Pac-12 teams. Not sure what the financial ramifications are for a Pac-12 team exiting, but that would be a huge shocker. And BYU would be screwed, as I don't think even a desperate Pac takes BYU.

Don't know, but he's not the only one who has been saying this or something pretty similar today. And UH tweeted out that they have an announcement on Monday but didn't say what. It would make sense on several levels for the Big 12 to act much faster than what's been said publicly because there is no trust between the conferences. Take too long to decide and someone else may beat you to it or start talking to your own members before you have the chance to act. The P12 may think whatever it does about BYU, but they won't like the idea of having to share the SLC market with another P5 conference. But they don't have many options unless they make a run for Texas again, but that's unlikely with the LHN. I hope we get to stick it to the stupid utes and the arrogant jerks who run the P12.
