Obama is making unforced errors. He's not "responding" to anything. The McCain campaign didn't force him to say this in July:

They didn't force him to say this in Germany:

And they didn't force this one either. Obama is tripping over his shoelaces without any Republican help, and kudos to McCain for calling him on it.
To his first quote, he was accurate. To his second quote, he was also accurate, and the point was a good one (that the US is a nation of inclusivity and progress).

Your "analysis" is amusing.

"Accurate" or not, it's playing the race card.

Only if "playing the race card" has been reduced to meaning "a mere mention of race."

Depends on how it's used. If a NY Times editorial, called "excellent" by you, can find racial undertones in a deck of cards analogy, then certainly we can find racial undertones when the candidate comes out and says it.

More so when he unfairly accuses his opponent of using race (and then has to lie to backtrack over it).

He didn't unfairly accuse his opponent of using race. He was right. He did backtrack over it because he has to avoid racial discussions (which you seemingly acknowledge, despite your lame attempts to claim it is Obama playing the race card).

The editorial was excellent; your disapproval of it bolsters my opinion that it must be good.

I wouldn't say it was excellent, though I'll give the NY Times credit for taking time from kissing Obama's ass to make a very weak attempt at being objective.

He's backtracking because he made a big mistake.

You are correct in saying that he didn't accuse his opponent of using race. What Obama did was predict that McCain would use race. That's not a different kind of politics.

Obama is just like any other politician.

There is no point in predicting that Mccain would use the race card, at some point he will.

Now, as a nation we will just have to wait and see how Obama will win this election when in the end are most americans willing and truly ready to vote a person of color into the most powerful job in the world?

I'm thinking that when push comes to shove, and even though Mccain isn't much better with his policies, the majority of the american populace is not quite ready for that, as they weren't truly ready for another 4 years of the Clintons.

What makes you so sure McCain will?
