File as a couple. Wife works 1/2 time.

Yes, and I will gladly accept it.
We filed as a couple, and my wife is not employed.

Wife doesn't work. We file as a couple. I make <$150K/year. I have 5 dependent kids. Does that mean I will get $2700? ($1200 + $300x5)

If so, I will take the money. That being said, I do not think the rebates are a good idea.

Stupid idea. My principles dictate I send it back, but I'm weak so I'll keep it. But I won't spend it like they want me to, I'll save it (I think).

Ha. Like anyone would admit to that.

Check that. K-dog did.

People who have been on Cougarboard know that my wife works. I don't know why people wouldn't admit to that.

Someone with my tax situation could make six figures and the gov't would pay them to go to work with this rebate on top of the child tax credit.

I think I could make about $200K before my effective tax rate reached 9%.

Yes, that is my understanding. I knew that having kids would pay off some day!

I was talking about the "make too much money for the rebate" part.

It was an attempt at humor. Don't worry about it.

I think it's a bad idea also. I will probably use most of mine to pay off debt.
