I would say something to the effect of

"You appear to be passing that off as fact. Is there any actual basis for that statement, or are you just pulling stuff out of your butt?"

But on an internet board, "Link?" is much more succinct.

These are good women, but one of them is overzealous. And she needs to stop assuming that everyone thinks the way she does simply because we are all LDS. I have a feeling that she will not make the same comments about Prop 8 the next time she raises it with a new person. Perhaps she will be more thougtful in her approach. Or just stay quiet.
What does your wife think about Prop 8?

I only ask because my wife is much more in support of it than I am. Of course, neither of our opinions matter in this case.

I'm not really up on the practical difference between civil union and marriage, so I can't really answer that portion of the question. They certainly are discriminated against and ostracized in much of society. What I'm getting at is that maybe these things become very personal because the road they've walked has been so difficult already.
I agree that there are some who discriminate against homosexuals. At the same time, there are some homosexuals who are so entrenched in their heterophobia that they tend to make it difficult for some to have any kind of sympathy for their causes. The most hateful person I've ever encountered was a lesbian at Marist. If she could have had it her way, only lesbians would be allowed to live and anyone who wasn't a lesbian (including Goatnapper, despite his claim that he is a lesbian) would be eliminated from existence.

This has been my view for years, and still is, but we seem to be trending toward a position of nondiscimination between gay and straight couples, and I think that's unfortunate. Tie base should go to a mom & dad, but we're heading toward a coin flip.

And you asked how DDD's wife views Prop. 8. My wife is more supportive than I and, over my mild objection, put a Prop 22 sign out a few years ago. But when we got home from church yesterday, at which we were asked in PH and RS to sign up to go door-to-door over the next three weeks, I asked the missus if she'd signed up. "No way am I going to door-to-door for this." I was very surprised, and think this augurs very poorly for the proposition's chances as she is typically very obedient (well, not to me so much but, you know, the Church)

You whore. I recall a boardmail some time back stating you would leave your wife for John Elway.

I think I like "link?" better.

She is conflicted, but not to my extent.

She is definitely not "supportive" of Prop 8, but she is not marching in Gay Pride parades, either.

Like me, she would like to see more open and honest dialogue about this issue at Church. if we are going to be asked to vote a certain way, we should dedicate a few lessons to honest discussion about concerns, questions, perceptions, etc. Up to this point, it is mostly, "obey the prophet," which is fine, but not terribly informative.

In short, she is not sure what to feel. But she definitely is not subscribing to the notion that "the thinking has been done." She is sass-tastic, that way.

I not a propagandist like PAC....no lawn signs at my house, suckas.

As reported previously, gay toughs stole my wife's Prop 22 sign in the dead of night. I'm thinking now I have you to thank for that.
