When I had 7% body fat I had a 34 inch waist. 35 is not that fat unless you are a shrimp. At 6'2" 200lbs with 7% body fat I was wearing 34 jeans.

The average man is about 5'11" and 170 pounds. For him a 35 is fat.

I am 6'5" and currently weigh 258. I have a 38 inch waist and in no way do I consider myself in shape. I have another 48 pounds to lose to hit my target and I would suspect I will be a 33-34.
I am in awe at our obesity. With an average height of 5'10" and a average waist of 39. that is one fat society.

Here's what Japan is doing to combat obesity in a country where obesity doesn't exist. Can you imagine a public health project like this in the States? There'd be riots. Especially if 33.5" was the Men's standard.
