Well sure there are also many overtly religious films, although I didn't see Evan Almighty. I thought the gigantic furor over the Golden Compass would have demonstrated the rarity of films that advocate nonbelief, no matter how gently.

Well she seemed to stay a nonbeliever after it was over, but that was clearly the point of it. Perhaps "spiritual" or "numinous" would be more accurate. It wasn't just that, though. The "prove you loved your father" that she was so dumbstruck by (as if she wouldn't have heard that a million times by then) was telling.

I've gone to one movie in the last several years, as discussed in another thread. But that's because I like Homer Simpson.

Wanting to turn healthcare over to the government is like taking the keys from your dad due to his suspended drivers license and handing them over to your drunken 95 year old grandfather instead.

I'd be willing to compare the resources (money, time) I've given to help others over the past year against yours. |

My experience is that people working in, volunteering in, and donating to charities often lean to the left.

No, not at all. There are lots of ways to help. I didn't post that to demonstrate the government needs to be the one to provide help. I posted it because NorCal continues to throw out crap "those people don't deserve help because they don't help themselves."

We can argue about the most efficient way to provide that help, but it is tangential to the post you quoted. I posted it because NorCal continues to throw out crap "those people don't deserve help because they don't help themselves."
