The problem with things like this is that they are easy to start and dreadfully difficult to stop. It's easy for someone to exhibit piety in public by promoting such a thing, but it would take real cajones for someone in an official capacity to come out and recommend that we end it.

Yup, it was students that created the Honor Code. And then it was formally adopted by the admin later.
