creekster's post is wonderful and a great expression of why we ride. You will have falls, but the heights are so wonderful, the occasional scraped skin is worth it.

Excellent post creester. This year, due to work and other commitments, i realize that I have no chance of being really fast. But I have enjoyed riding this year as much as any simply because of the stress relief that I receive from hitting the pedals out in the country and up in the hills. Like Archaea mentioned a couple of days ago, I wouldn't call mine depression-like symptoms, but without some kind of exercise release, I definitely feel seriously stressed out and occasionally overwhelmed with all that life can through at us.

I seriously can't recall ever spudding on a mountain bike. I've crashed plenty of times, but not because I couldn't unclip in time. Can you recall otherwise? I think I'm just too conservative to try anything stupid and I've got my pedal tension so loose that my shoe comes unclipped if I sneeze.

Good news lads and lassies.
I got to ride this morning with a brick run thereafter and the lads announced a group ride this evening. With family out, I get to ride twice in one day! What luck.

Yesterday I was able to sneak out for about 28 miles in the afternoon. As soon as I got home we got the kids outfitted and took off for a second ride. Althought this one was just under 2 miles and took just over 45 minutes. The 4 year is just getting started on her "big girl bike", and likes to stop every 4 or 5 minutes for a drink break. |

But the five year old has outgrown (to say the least) his Burley and we're not sure what to do next. Anybody know of anything? |
