SMC is beating BYU like a red-headed stepchild
Only scoring .81 points per possession.

BYU has a serious problem in that there is a complete lack of athleticism at the guard position.
The SMC guards probed the lane all night long, breaking down defenders, forcing help. The BYU guards just threw the ball around the perimeter, and drives were poorly executed, rarely lead to assists, and were often very difficult contested shots. The three primary BYU guards are just not very athletic. |

SMC isn't blessed with athleticism, but they know their roles and execute. The judgment of BYU guards is abominable. TJ is less of a player than Tyler.

just because they are white guys from Australia doesn't mean they aren't athletic.
Obviously they are skilled, and that's the major thing. But the fact that they can drive at will, and BYU can't, indicates there is major athleticism disparity. Yeah, you could argue the technique and skills are so poor that it looks like an athleticism differential when there isn't any. These guys just aren't athletic. |
