Coach Edwards passed away today.
The loss of Coach is a tremendous loss for BYU. He was BYU football for me, and my visit down memory lane includes many games with wild endings involved his coached teams.
I attended the Holiday Bowl in 1984, and knew him casually through his son, and by virtue of being a fan. He was a gentleman who represented BYU honorably and well. He inspired his players to become better in all fields and he is rightfully honored by Lavell Edwards Stadium. Bless his family.

His era was of course the only era I knew growing up. He's the reason I became a fan.
We'll never have another legend like him. When I was a young boy, I sent him a letter in the mail, and he responded with a short note. Classy, and I'll always remember that. |

I am experiencing a small measure of the grief his family is feeling. He was a model who to represent BYU.
