Jay Drew discusses the possibility that BYU would end sports
http://www.sltrib.com/sports/4494020...dependence-not
I could definitely see that happening, if the PR from BYU sports becomes so toxic due to the church's social conservatism defined by anti-gay policies and rhetoric and political action. Protests, teams refusing to schedule us, boycotts. |

There's even talk about the end of BYU sports on cougarboard. If I posted the same sentiment I would be banned for "trolling."
I don't think it's quite sunk in yet for BYU fans. We are going to be in the Boise State category, most likely, for here and evermore. If we continue to exist at all. One of the great mainstreaming forces of Mormonism will disappear. Sports. I hope Gerrit Gong et al. are paying attention. |

Changes I would make. Fix the honor code to avoid problems with gays. Make it reviewed by ecclesiastical leaders with no bearing upon academic standing Allow playing championship games on Sunday. Make those changes and BYU will thrive. Falling on one's sword is a dumb idea.
