NYT Kristof: we need more gun control
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/13/op...R_HP_LO_MST_FB
One thing that I like about this article is that he tries not to just go straight into lies. But let's say everything he has said, quoting biased liberal research, is true. Guns don't help you defend yourself. They are useless. They will probably be used on yourself, or a family members. Let's say that is all true. So what? It's still not enough. It's still not important enough to remove one of the basic liberties that KEEPS us free. How can this MORON write these words when he is AT THE SAME TIME watching news reports of men in the streets of Cairo trying to protect their families with clubs, pipes, kitchen knives and golf clubs. This is what this man wants. He wants us to be defenseless, whether it be against criminals or tyrants. I have a theory about liberals. At heart, they are passive people who expect to be taken care of. They see themselves not as actors in this world, but observers. If the ship sinks, everyone should die. No one should be able to get off, if they can't get off. And of course, they are not going to get off, because they are passively wed to whatever "destiny" is in store for the ship. They hate us. The ones who seize life for our own and try to carve out our own destinies. The ones who want to survive and thrive regardless of hardship. The ones who are sick of excuses and losers. Yes, there is a cost to having an armed citizenry. But there is also a cost to not having one. And as the vanguard of freedom in the world, we CANNOT afford to surrender ourselves to small men like Kristof. Farm boy from Oregon, my ass. East-coast liberal cocktail party asshole--yes. Come and take it. |
