Archery report...
So I have my new bow setup. I'm missing a couple of accessories, but it's mostly there. Certainly functional.
The bow has a 61lb draw weight. That means that it takes, at its maximum tension point, 61 pounds to pull the string back. Because it is a compound bow, when you get to full draw the actual draw reduces to about 15 or 20 pounds. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to hold the bow at full draw for too long without severely tiring, and not being able to aim very well. I went shooting Thursday evening. And then yesterday evening as well. Yesterday, on my first draw, I felt it. Soreness in my back and shoulders. Just a slight bit of pain. But nothing that would prevent me from shooting. But boy this morning, my neck is killing me. Your trapezius muscles get significant work with archery, and most people probably don't have well developed trap muscles, including me. It's a lot of fun. I shot out to 50 yards yesterday. The furthest target distance there at the range is 80 yards. |
