first ride of the season
Today was my first ride since last August.
I weigh 32lb more now than then. I certainly wasn't fast, not fast like the 5'6" 120lb pixies that dart around the lake. It was good to feel some burn. |

When I replay my ride in my mind, as I am passed by various individuals and packs I say, "Yeah, I've been doing some other stuff. Cool stuff. Besides riding." And "if you're going faster than me, it's probably because you are a compulsive loser who doesn't do anything but ride" and "I'll bet you're real proud of yourself, ooooooo, 24mph, wooooowww".

32 pounds? How is that possible? Was that your anorexic/flu period where you were losing 5 or 10 pounds a week?

Rode 14 miles on Sat. and another 14 miles today. No speedometer or HRM. My battery is out. But no matter, it can be refreshing to ride w/o concerning yourself re: metrics.
Esp. when you are weak and slow. It would be nice to be in decent shape by the end of August. But I got a long, long way to go before I have any kind of real fitness. Also would be nice to get to the point I can comfortably ride w/ the club on their recovery group ride (which I had to give up because of boy scouts, three years ago). |
