Marksmanship
My first outting ever with a scoped rifle.
At 100 yards. It has been sighted to 200yd, hence when I center the mildot cross hairs on the center target and the bottom right, I shot about 3.5in high. I will correct that next time. I purposely aimed a little low (but not low enough) on the bottom left. Not shot from rest. Shot from bipod. My uncle tells me these are "respectable" groups for a "novice". I have a feeling that a 5x power scope at 200yd is going to look very far away. We will see. |

My neighbor is an olympic hopeful at some marksmanship sport.
From hanging with him, I'd say your uncle is full of crap, and you are a horrible shot. |

5x scope for what you are shooting is not too bad. I have a 3-9x30 Nikon on my AR 15 and I find that when I zoom in w/ the x9 that the site picture is jumping around with my breathing too much.
Took it out wild pig hunting again last weekend and I whacked a piglet (around 50lbs undressed). Whole family of them came wandering up a trail and I ambushed em. Couldn't get a clean shot on the big mama pig, so I took what I could get. Got a couple nice ham's and some ribs. I have been told that the piglets have the best meat on them.

where did you hunt?
I may have some prospects for a place. I have been camping many a night, and have never seen a wild pig. |

Got the rifle worked on by gunsmith in order to be more reliable, and might improve accuracy as well. Rounds can get deformed as they are loaded, even small changes in the bullet position in the case could alter accuracy, and round-to-round performance.
Need to take her out again and see if I can't improve on my prior lackluster efforts. But when it is $1 a round, you don't squeeze too many off. Unless you are rich. |
