Does running this site qualify me as a computer guy?
I have taken my first free-lance computer "job". It's not really a job, since I'm not getting paid.
But I described myself as a non-programmer non-computer guy who has experience with message boards and related issues (i.e. databases, software conversions). So this was discusses amongst the principals, and they wanted clarification. "So you are not a computer guy?" I explained it again. I added, "Basically I know how to follow instructions and solve problems." I'm no programmer, that is for sure (does FORTRAN a long time ago count?). But maybe I am selling myself short. Maybe doing this crap really does make you a computer guy. It will be interesting to see if I can deliver. I relish the challenge, since their original computer guy failed. |
