Long awaited The Kindly Ones to be released in English next week
I ordered this book about four months ago. It won France's top literary prize three years ago, made a huge splash internationally starting at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and it's now been translated into English. I'm sure the NY Times will review this book at least a couple of times. Here is the first:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/24/books/24kaku.html Lest you draw any snap judgments about the novel from this review, note that the reviewer Michiko Kakuta is infamous for being the first to review long awaited books and novels by iconic authors and totally trashing them; a sort of rite of passage, almost an honor to be "spanked" by her. I know that's what she did to The Crossing. Notice the comments from Rushdie and Mailer ("Criticism"): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michiko_Kakutani
