Restoration Studies Symposium
Is anyone here planning to attend the Symposium in April? This years theme is "Examining the Origin of Scripture".
From the JWHA site: "The topic, "Examining the Origins of Scripture," is an expansive one. What makes scripture scripture? How is the understanding of scripture in the Restoration and Community of Christ tradition unique? How do traditions in the Restoration compare with the understanding of scripture in the broader Christian community and also the world’s other religious traditions?" The JWHA annual meeting is the following September and the theme for it is "Race, Gender, Ethnicity and the Restoration". From the site: "Unfortunately, too often the history of the Restoration is focused narrowly on the members of elite priesthood quorums at church headquarters. Some histories of the church are almost indistinguishable in focus from biographies of church presidents." Both gatherings have great themes and I'm very interested to hear the dissertations of the participants.
