By far my favorite scripture -- and for that matter chapter of scripture -- to apply to actually being a missionary -- especially for missionaries tempted by the wrong goals in the mission field: e.g. learning the language, getting a bunch of numbers, being promoted, pleasing the family/girlfriend or getting that truck. |

I guess I interpreted the situation differently than you. I interpreted this as these missionaries basically being called out as frauds with "no light", not even worthy of being LDS, let alone missionaries, sinning along the way and certainly not serving Him.
