Default GHWB and GWB

There are some ironic things that have played out.

For example, Sadaam plotting to take GHWB's life. And then GWB actually taking Sadaam's life (through the Iraqis).

But the most significant irony is perhaps this: under GHWB, the Cold War ended. And now under GWB, the Cold War has restarted.

I'm not sure credit/blame can really be ascribed to either for what has happened. But it is nonetheless ironic.

Just as OBL is starting to sizzle out, and smart people are working to diminish his reputation through not over-estimating his power, we get an oldie but goodie, to fill the gap. The USSR.

I guess it can be argued that true democracy in Russia was about as likely as true communism in the United States.

You know the drunk that is a complete loser in his work life? The guy who is a complete zero, and then comes home and beats up his wife to make himself feel better? I think we have a little of that in Russia. Being evil is just too satisfying to give up entirely.

Everyone always talks about "the drunk that is a complete loser." Why is it you never hear about the drunk who becomes a great success? The one who heads a major company and loves his family? They exist, I know some and hope to be one one day. As C&C says, things that make you go hmmm.

I've always had great admiration for the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
