The Ice Cats have been around for a while. They used to play on Utah Lake back in the day. Another college showed up to play them once and they forfeited because they refused to play on the lake because they didn't think the ice was thick enough.

A couple years back a BYU hockey player was killed after being struck in the chest by a slapshot. That's the only time I've heard of the club in the news.

Technically it's not. It's extramural and recognized as a sport but unlike the soccer team they don't receive any money from BYU. However, the hockey team is allowed to use the BYU name. But they pay for everything out of their own pockets. The games are fun. Lots of mullahs though and they won't let you bang on the glass or anything. They also discourage smack talk to opposing players in the penalty box. Though we did get a player to squirt us with his water bottle once for talking about his mama.
