Seriously, Chris Canon? Seriously?
I don't know if you saw the paper this morning but Chris Cannon is in trouble because he has been pushing thru legislation that helps his lawyer/lobbyist brother Joe. A couple of interesting comments from Chris Canon:
"If my wife decided to lobby, then we would probably say 'No talking in my office.' I just don't see my brother in the same category." Really? You really believe that? He also then says "A lot of people that I know are lobbyists...I would put Joe in that category, not as a family member." Not only all of that...but his brother Joe owes Chris $250,000. So you have a brother that owes you a bucket load of money and he is lobbying on behalf of his clients who, if the legislation works, would probably pay Joe quite a bit of money which in turn could be used to pay off some of his debt to his congressman brother. Anyway, it is just always funny how nice of a spin someone can put on a situation when it looks so obviously bad. |

I'm conservative in my political opinions, but Canon is a complete and total blowhard. I would never vote for that guy and glad living up here in SLC County that I don't have too.

Cannon is about as slimey as it gets
If he were in any other district he might be more easily ousted. Most of the involved Utah County gopers I know do not care for the man.

To know is not to love. Chris is a solid argument against a one party state.

I ran into him after a football game in 1996. He was out campaigning outside the stadium. I had a brief conversation in which I challenged him to explain why, in 1996, he was making a flag-burning amendment a central part of his campaign. Flag-burning had been off the political radar at that point for years and it seemed like such a pointless exercise.
I don't remember his response, but I remember very clearly that I was not impressed. |

Don't even get me started on flag burning. Flag burning is never mentioned except for every 2 or every 4 years. Personally, I can't imagine anyone having a good argument to make it a constitutional amendment and I have no doubt that Cannon could not make a strong argument about it either.

the reason we don't have better men and women in office is that people don't want to elect them.
they demand partisan hacks. and get them. |
