Talk of 2nd stimulus bill in the works
Bailout bill: $700B
Economic stimulus bill: $787B Obama "Omnibus Spending" bill: $410B That's $1.9T (yes, that's trillion) in just a couple of months (and yes, I know the first one was Bush). Now we have talk of a 2nd stimulus bill. This is ridiculous, rampant, vote-buying stupidity in Washington. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1236...googlenews_wsj

The bailout, as you mentioned, isn't his either, and the stimulus bill isn't "vote-buying" stupidity. That would have been the tax rebates urged by Republicans. The stimulus bill is a massive government attempt to dig us out of the recession we find ourselves in today, in the hopes of preventing it from getting worse. I know you don't have a background in economics, so more of a discussion on this topic with you is probably not helpful. |

Cali's judgment of Obama is as follows.
Obama is a smart guy, he went to Harvard afterall. So anything Obama tries is well-meaning, even if it fails. Obama's advisors serve him poorly but Obama meant well. Obama had no role in the Omnibus Bill, it is all Bush's fault. The Stimulus Bill One had no surplusage, only truly vital and correct stimulus items to rescue us from evil Bush. Obama is nice and means well. Conversely, Bush was dumb and only went to Yale on father's coattails. Bush is evil and meant badly and he is completely responsible for the selection of his evil staff members. Bush, while his economic policy may resemble Obama's, is completely wrong-headed, and full of pork with no economic merit. Bush bad, evil man. Bush new Hitler. Obama good, saintly man. Obama new Christ. So reads Cali, Oracle at Delphi.

Good hell, Cali. Can Obama do no wrong in your eyes?

You guys really want to bash Obama, don't you? No matter what the facts or circumstances may be. It is silly.
Do any of you know what the omnibus spending bill is or what it was for? Anyone? Anyone know how often those come up, or what the last amount was? Anyone? Good grief- you all act as if the omnibus bill was Obama's grand idea and he threw as much pork in it as he could muster. Obama had nothing to do with the original bailout bill which Tex included in his post. That leaves the stimulus bill, which we have already discussed in depth in other threads. It is simple Keynesian economics. Tex wants a bill to be based on "results" and not on "hope." Ok, genius- which economic policy of the US for which we have measurable results during times of deep recessions should we implement to deal with this recession? Hm, how about Keynesian policies? Of course Obama can do wrong (his flub with Brown was embarrassing), but in your haste to kick dirt on the man, you don't even bother to note that in your own eyes, the man can do nothing right (an amusing irony, given your accusations). |
