I am waiting for Sleeping in EQ's review of Big Love
I'm really not sure what to think of it, from the artistic perspective.

He lost me at the beginning of his review with this line:
"Set in the fun-loving state of Utah - surprise...they are Mormons and typical if one is to accept what HBO and Hanks are proffering." I don't see how anyone could watch that show and not realize that the polygamists are not mainstream Mormons. Hiding their polygamy from Mormons is an integral part of the plot. It was not my impression that one needed a lot of knowledge about the LDS culture to understand that aspect of the show. |

But unlike the majority of people complaining about the show, I'll watch it before judging it. A novel concept, I know.

I like the show. I think the idea of polygamy has a whole unique set of stresses and conflicts that make for an interesting story. I haven't seen anything in the show that bashes on the church, other than portraying the LDS girl as naive/sappy, which probably isn't far from the truth in many cases.
