Yeah, it's oil. We could have a cut a great deal with Saddam for all the oil we wanted. It's not just about oil.

When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. |

Is Canada worth dying for anyplace anytime?
What about Mexico? What about Russia? We could go on. The idea that any kind of America, in any kind of war, is worth dying for, is absolute Hitler-esque fatherland bullshit. |

I support the war to the extent we need to clean up the mess we made. However, I don't believe it has much to do with our nation's security at this point, so my support is tepid. As such I wouldn't enlist and therefore would discourage my son from enlisting.

My son is in the process of signing up for the...
Guard. I have served and so has my father (served 3 tours of duty in Nam). So the answer to the question is serving your country whether you die or not is always worth it. Until they change the Articles of Faith, and until the priesthood has been wiped off the face of the earth or Christ comes again the issue is not about dying. It is about honoring the commitment you made when you entered active duty. Dying is always a risk war or no war, and dying fighting in Iraq is at least better than dying in a car accident. Why? Because there was a purpose behind your death.
