Well I enter rides and races for one of three reasons, to race, to train or for fun.
Right now, my conditioning for racing sucks. And the ULCER is so damn flat, you don't get much training unless you're riding fast. So I might go with non racing buddies to fart around. It is a course that maybe even I could break five hours some day, if Creekster would pull me around.

Consistent long rides definitely help in the weight loss category. On a century, most guys burn between 8000 and 12000 calories, with bigger guys being on the higher end of things. It takes a lot of twinkies to make up that kind of a deficit, especially considering most guys only consume about 1000-2000 calories on a century. Its possible though. I've proven that this year. I've put in a couple of thousand miles already and have dropped less than 5 pounds of my hibernating weight. And 5'4" 140 pounds? There's your fat ass category creekster, At least as far as pros go. Scary, isn't it? I think most pros are more in the 5'6"-5'9", 140-155 range. |
