With what perspective do you regard the prophet?
As a new teenage member, I first regarded the prophet as almost a spiritual super hero, who spoke with God face to face on a daily basis.
As a young missionary, SWK was an icon, but I realized he was just a man, but quite the man. As a newly married man, I saw some of my leaders and realized they were more human than I had initially imagined but still respected them. As I became older, I realized leaders are very human, and sometimes I was one, and was happy most were willing to serve so I didn't have ot. Now still further I notice that they are flawed, but usually hard striving individuals who fulfill a role I have no desire to fill. Extroplating it to the prophet, whom I only met once with 15,000 other of his closests friends, I imagine him to be a seasoned Church leader, devoted to the cause, relying upon information from others, but working a tough schedule to fulfill his role. Athough I don't see him as some sort of Deity now, that I might have seen as a younger lad, in some ways, knowing he's just as human as I, makes it easier to admire his work. Especially because he hasn't made some of the mistakes I have.
