How far are you willing to trust the majority? For example, if one of the states in the bible belt decided to ban Mormonism, would you support it? I am a big proponent of state's rights, but I think the the framers of the Constitution were careful to protect us from the majority. I am strongly against mob rule. Don't be too quick to cut one of the branches of the government out. The courts are needed to keep the balance.
