It is an "all in". If it goes down as a cheap ploy, he won't recover.

If he pulls all ads and campaign stumps, maybe, just maybe, he's seen as a 'maverick' "showing leadership". So far, he has once again captured all of the media's attention. He's sucked all the O2 out of the room. There is no room to cover Obama, because all eyes are on McCain.

One thing is for sure: McCain has thrown some heavy-breaking curveballs into the status quo of the modern presidential election cycle.
