Default Michael Schermer piece on "game theory" and why athletes dope

I thought this was an interesting read in the April issue of Scientific American. Here is the article and here is one of the interesting graphics they use to show why cheating became a rational option over the years.




His suggestions for fixing the problem seem a bit Polyanna, but if a league actually enforced his rules, I bet they would work.
