Nope. I don't think they are always correct. People make dumb decisions all the time, even collectively.

We've become a very shortsighted, very materialistic society. American people, collectively, have become pretty bad at saving money, and I believe it is very much against their own interests to have done so. The pain will come, and I believe we will learn from it, but only after the pain.

But I believe they are free to choose and then to learn from both their good and bad choices. (And no, I don't claim to be all-knowing in regards to identifying the bad and good choices, but I can make my best judgment in this regard.)
