Byutv
1. So far I have been favorably impressed with BYUTV's professionalism and production values.
2. It would be infinitely improved if BYUTV were shown in HD on directv. I'm just saying. 3. Steve Cleveland isn't bad as a color man. He is infinitely better than Blaine Fowler. I've never understood the logic of having a football guy with a high-pitched annoying voice as your basketball color announcer. Was Todd Christensen not available? 4. Seeing Travis Hansen on TV was a shocker. Old guy with hair combed to the side--he looks like someone that would show up for stake basketball in jeans. Go figure. 5. Actually there isn't a single MTN announcer that I will miss. 6. Hell, if Jimmer doesn't have a job, and he is sitting there attending all these BYU games against crap competition, put him in the booth!!! |

Blaine Fowler did the Nevada game (or was it the Longwood game?). Fowler is not terrible. It's just that I can't buy-in: he doesn't have the skins on the wall, and most of what he says are the kinds of things that I would say. I want better. I want some actual insight from an expert, who helps me see things in a new way.

I like when Steve Cleveland does the color or play by play.

I'm sure it is a function of satellite bandwidth and audience.
Bandwidth is limited, and the audience for BYUTV is small. If they could get a competitive subscription advantage for having BYUTV in HD, it would have happened. But I'm sure the demand is very small. Maybe that will change with expanded BYU sports on that channel. But I doubt it. Or they need to expand their bandwidth such that they have HD channels to throw away. |
