Obama has it easy
his winning formula was to package a bunch of plans, memorize them like any good lawyer can, and then run with what the media gave him.
Republicans made his job easy by having no coherent message, and will never have the media support them. 90% of the dominant media vote Democratic, so they will subconsciously support the Dems. The Republicans can only hope to neutralize the media through a man or woman of charisma. Not McCain. But Obama merely needs to exit Iraq and Afghanistan, go easy on his social agenda and he will be guaranteed a favorable, if not undeserved legacy. If he gets greedy, he could undo himself. But he's cunning so he's already priming people to delay expectations. Then he'll do something like Clinton passing laws to invite Subprime Lending disaster, which will only be realized years later and will be blamed on somebody else. Brilliant, but a malignant strategy. Republicans play along by spending. They need to learn the lesson of not spending no matter what. That was Bush's undoing plus a stupid war.

He has it easy, because he won't care what goes on elsewhere.

We'll still be in Iraq in one year. He'll make an excuse.

I agree. And he won't be able to use his "95% of Americans will get tax cuts" lie as a crutch to win re-election.

Unless Republicans find an articulate, charismatic spokesperson, he will be able to say, "see I got us out of Iraq, reduced military spending and implemented tax cuts for middle class Americans, but I'm not done yet..." He's a shoe-in for eight years. Republicans have only themselves to blame.

Most likely so, but I will harp on his lie for the entire 4 years. His policies will be expensive and now the entire country will have to suffer the consequences of his words.

Obama has a distinct advantage coming from the Party of the Media. They will treat him like a glorified saint, no matter what he does. The structure of our economy is not that bad. Reduce the expenditures, infuse some capital and liquidity, and it will recover. In other words, overstate the conditions, take the easy route and voila, you magically become a hero. It's all setting up badly for true Republicans, but our silly leadership is too daft to see it.
