Garden of the Gods
Tonight I added a new place to my list of great runs.

I've never run there. I've done the Pikes Peak Ascent a couple of times and I always thought that Garden of the Gods looked like it would be a great place to run. Now, as an out of shape accountant, running anywhere is an adventure for me.

I went back to Garden of the Gods today. I found a dirt road that went up the mountain. About five miles into it, I'm feeling like a tough guy running up the mountain when I pass this guy rolling a wheelchair up the hill. I stopped and talked with him for a bit and he does this kind of thing all the time. Now that's a real tough guy.

Another great run.
From the Ranger Station up to the top on Haleakala. It is not steep but steady for about ten to eleven miles, going from 6500to 10023 feet. A great run.

I ran up that hill again yesterday after work. I had looked on google maps and saw a dirt road that loops back to where I usually park before starting to run for about a nine mile loop. At about mile 7 I got to that road and it was gated with a sign that said "Private property. No trespassing. Violators will be prosecuted."
I didn't want to be prosecuted, so I turned around and ran back the way I came. It was kind of a long, cold and dark run back to the car. I guess I shouldn't have trusted google this time. |

We used to live 40 minutes from there. We'd go there all the time on Saturdays with the kids and picnic. Georgeous. Right at the foot of Pike's Peak.
