We actually have one of those on the triple (triple bike, not chain ring) and my son loves to use it to try to startle people when we are riding.

The short wheel base models are definitely not for your grandma. http://www.linearrecumbent.com/linear_sonic.htm If you are into numb nuts, stiff neck, grueling workouts, no they are not for you. If you want 30-60 minute fun rides to keep your heart in condition, go for it, because if you have fun you will ride more. To each their own. |

Edit: never mind, I see Creek already covered this a few pages back. That's what I get for starting on the last page. |

That article is about hand bikes, which are not the same thing that Hyrum is talking about (but you probably knew that).

Here is the other problem with bents. They cost a lot more. Even a low end bent will be at least 3x what a lower end diamond frame is.

My mistake. It's been a while since I read the article. I'm also very ignorant about the whole thing. The extent of my bike knowledge is the $350 Gary Fisher that I ride around on cross training days.

Okay so at this point I'm throroughly confused.
I found my way over to bikeforums.net where they have a pretty active Clydesdale forum so I'll take my newbie questions over there. Thanks to everyone for the input though ... you've given me lots to think about. Also realized I should be posting about this in the Cycling forum so I'll put any other related posts over there.
