We've become a very shortsighted, very materialistic society. American people, collectively, have become pretty bad at saving money, and I believe it is very much against their own interests to have done so. The pain will come, and I believe we will learn from it, but only after the pain. But I believe they are free to choose and then to learn from both their good and bad choices. (And no, I don't claim to be all-knowing in regards to identifying the bad and good choices, but I can make my best judgment in this regard.) |

I'm a big believer in the words of Neal Maxwell in a conference talk from quite some time ago. I don't have the exact quote before me, and I don't have time to look for it now, but he basically said that the scripture that says "every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ" will not be coerced, but will bend willingly. When we understand the entire picture, we will be overwhelmed with the wisdom and goodness of God, and will willing worship Him. The entire picture. I can't understand these atrocities now, I about break down when I read a news story about the lady who killed her baby by putting it in the microwave, but I have faith that God is real, and that He has not abandoned us. |
